Ingredients

2 cups canned chickpeas, liquid reserved
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 cup tahini
1/4 cup olive oil
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Drain chickpeas and reserve the liquid.
  2. Blend all ingredients together in blender. Hummus will be smoother if you pour in the olive oil while the blender is running.
  3. Use reserved chickpea liquid to smooth out the puree.
  4. Do not over salt if using salted chickpeas, maybe no salt at all will be necessary.

Hummus is one of those foods that is easy to make, full of protein and can help keep you free of hunger, prevent over snacking and actually keep you healthy.
